Clarissa Bannor

n7412196_32327565_119.jpg

Clarissa Bannor has always looked to Africa for inspiration. Bannor, who is of Ghanaian descent, sought to bring attention to the other side of Africa. The rich art. The colorful culture. The pioneering fashion. And the multi-talented people. Through her volunteering efforts in various arts and education organization in America and in Ghana, Bannor is accomplishing her dream of enlightening the public about a vibrant, optimistic Africa and cultivating the continent’s next crop of talented artists.

She is the Founder and CEO of Inspiration Africa. An arts organization dedicated to exposing and promoting African and African-inspired artistic expression within fashion, music and visual arts.

In 2007, Clarissa partnered with the South African embassy to launch Runway Africa a manifestation of INSPIRATION AFRICA LLC’s efforts, within fashion, to highlight the many cultures, traditions and artistic expressions of Africa and its people. While RUNWAY AFRICA is a fashion show about and for the exposure of Africhic, its mission is three fold:

  • To introduce, display and expose Africhic to North America
  • To provide a spotlight on Africa’s burgeoning textile and garment industry.

• To provide assistance to its growing HIV and AIDS pandemic, through this year’s beneficiary, Keep A Child Alive (www.keepachildalive.org) that provides anti-retro-viral drug treatments to children and families living with HIV and AIDS in Africa.

Clarissa was born on November 11 1984, and is now happily married.
