Trend Update From Sanlam Fashion Week ‘09

ysl-131.jpg

Runway Report, Summer 2009

Day and night (what, what)

I toss and turn, I keep stressing my mind, mind (what, what)

I look for peace but see I don’t attain (what, what)

What I need for keeps this silly game we play, playNow look at this (what, what)

Madness to magnet keeps attracting me, me (what, what)

I try to run but see I’m not that fast (what, what)

I think I’m first but surely finish last, last

It is officially Spring (the clocks have gone forward and the sun is beginning to make more and more appearance), so it’s only right you get the winter wardrobe folded away. Not ready to put them away, you haven’t updated your wardrobe? Well here is a rundown of this seasons (day and night) trends, sure to make you finish first and never last!

Soft palette

Grey pride, cafe au lait and  petal blossom are just some of the tones that fall within this trend. Colours were from a neutral palette, placing most of the attention on the cut of the garments.

Comfort

This season saw the designers focus on looser cuts, with an emphasis on comfort.  Sweats, softer layering and draping were seen at the Guillotine, Superella and Amanda Laird Cherry shows.

Synched Waists

Femininity was highlighted in this seasons evening wear, with days spent draped in layers, night were designed to show off the curves. Dresses were cut closer to the body and hem lines were short, falling above the knee and waist were highlighted.

Full Skirt

And for the quirky girl there were lots of treats at this years Sanlam Fashion Week, including the frou frou dresses at the Diamond Face Couture show,  again waists were pulled in but skirts were voluminous.

Asymmetry

For that little bit of grown up glamour asymmetric dresses were seen at Lanvin and Tiaan Nagel to name but a few.
