Sanlam Fashion Week April 2009

 

Brief Biography:
Sisters Caren and Gina Waldman established TWO (initially named Boom Factory) in 2003 making underwear from their home. They opened a studio in Doornfontein, Johannesburg in 2005 which they still share with their CMT partners. The TWO collections includes: TWO Girls, TWO Active, TWO Undies, TWO Knitwear, TWO Yoga, TWO Preggie and TWO Accessories and is stocked by more than forty shops around the country.

Passions:
The on-going collaboration with the crafters of the Northern Cape that TWO has been involved in for the past two year through the SSAFW/DAC Fashion Fusion project.

Summer 2009/10:
The macabre is always more powerful when its relationship to beauty is explored. The designers’ imaginings of the continuation of life and death is what inspires this collection – the illusion of reality. The dark brings forth light and the essence lives eternally. Shapes are based on shrouded memories, retro shapes and prints that hang delicately like spiders webs.
