Oh Waris, thank God you are alive!

waris-dirie.jpg

We couldn’t possibly take another tragedy, we are yet to get over the mysterious death of our beloved Katoucha!

On the 6th of March 2008, Waris Dirie, ex-model, and author of best selling book “Desert Flower” - A book that describes in graphic detail how her genitals were sliced off with a dirty razor blade without anesthesia, and then stitched together- was the focus of a nation wide search in Brussels, Belgium after mysteriously disappearing 3days earlier. She was last seen in a scuffle with a driver that took her to the wrong branch of the Sofitel hotel chain. The police were called and drove Dirie around Brussels looking for the correct hotel because she had apparently forgotten where she was staying. On arrival to the hotel, while searching for her name in their database, Dirie, said she was going to get some cigarettes, and was last seen hailing a cab!

Brussels was in a state of panic, especially since it was just a week after the body of ex-model, of Africa Origin, Katoucha was found in a river in Paris.

Waris & Katoucha both campaigned against Female Genital Mutilation.

You may read more on Katoucha HERE.

AND

Waris gained international fame as a model posing in Chanel ADs and acting in the 1987 James Bond movie “The Living Daylights” You may read more about Waris HERE.

Waris has since apologized for her behaviour and simply said she was just walking around and was lost.

We are just glad to know she’s well, and hope we don’t hear about anymore disappearing acts.

- Wadami.
