Canoe Magazine – sailing its way across all borders
Lagos, Monday March 23 – In the history of Africa, the canoe is a highly symbolic means of transportation – representing the vehicle that ferried civilization to Africa; transporting European missionaries and traders alike, along with their cargoes to the hinterlands of various African dwellings. The canoe was used to freight Bibles, books, mirrors, clothes, and even bicycles. The canoe made it possible for the West to introduce education, religion, and commerce to Africans. The canoe was largely responsible for the history of Africa as we now know it. But then, that ‘history’ was not written by Africans – giving room for the misconceptions that plague the world’s perception of the beautiful continent.
Since the canoe started it, the Canoe Magazine is here to refine it. To give back to Africa the beauty that was taken from her, by celebrating the achievements of the African professional; extolling the dynamic opulence of the African people and cultures; selling a true representation of the African continent to the rest of the world through a uniquely packaged and well researched quarterly magazine that celebrates the African lifestyle, polity, music, entertainment, news, culture, tourism, dining, and personalities.
At the Canoe Magazine Nigeria press launch/ party held on Friday at the Auto Lounge in Victoria Island, guests were thrilled to discover a magazine made in Africa by Africans – produced and packaged to global standards – Poised to Sail the News from Africa by Africans to the rest of the world.
The event which was put together with the support of Storm 360, had corporate bigwigs from established conglomerates in attendance – pouring out to express their support as Canoe Magazine set its sails in Nigeria –determined to chronicle the story of a dynamic Nigeria, as opposed to the negative representations of the country and her citizens by some unscrupulous fellows in the Western media.
Always dedicated to reaching discerning subscribers and advertisers in Nigeria, Canoe Magazine is already available in Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt, through outlets like the Silverbird Cinemas, The Palms Shopping Mall, and various media stores in these cities.
With about 180 glossy pages of stunning photography and impeccable editorials, Canoe Magazine retails at just N800 [eight hundred naira] – giving its subscribers and advertisers unrivalled value for their money.
With its headquarters in Ghana, Canoe Magazine runs its global operations through Canoe Magazine proxies in South Africa, Rwanda, Botswana, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and now Nigeria.
