Alber Elbaz for Lanvin wins at the Oscars!

tilda-swinton-collage.jpg

…Okay not quite Alber Elbaz himself, but British actress, Tilda Swinton donned this black washed silk draped evening gown by Alber Elbaz For Lanvin at the 80th annual academy awards, which took place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on FEB. 24, 2008. Tilda Swinton was nominated and won ‘Actress in a supporting role’ for ‘Michael Clayton’, where she played as Karen Crowder, a ruthless corporate attorney acting on behalf of a company engaged in a multimillion dollar lawsuit.

It was Tilda’s 1st nomination at the Oscars, and she won fittingly in an Alber Elbaz for Lanvin gown!

Ruby Dee (Lady in Red) who wore ‘Kevan Hall’ a designer whose spring ‘08 collection drew inspiration heavily from Africa, on the other hand lost to Tilda Swinton. She was nominated for her role in American Gangster. It was also her 1st nomination for an Academy award. Check out Kevan Hall’s African inspired collection HERE.

The Irony!!! Yes? no?

Alber Elbaz was born in Casablanca, Morocco, and you can see his latest collection on the designers section on FashionAfrica.com or Click THIS.

Tilda’s an amazing actress but she couldnt have done it wihout Lanvin. g’head Alber make our people proud.

  2. Ikechukwu Says:

It’s a pleasure to see African designers making their stamp on fashion in a big way!

  3. Gregwar's Revenge Says:

I wasn’t too happy with Tilda’s outfit. I don’t think she does it justice, or vice versa–she’s just weird. But you have to give it to Alber for rolling on the winning side. Perhaps the only thing fit for trés fug is fug… I ain’t hating though, she’s got gold.

OMG! Is that Ruby Dee…? She’s trés hotness. Kudos Kevan for hooking her up Red style. Kudos fashionAfrica for hooking us up linky style!

  4. BellaNaija Says:

Tilda’s outfit was a washout in my opinion but you know what, it was her moment and it complemented her quirky style so good for her.
Ruby Dee looked fab in her namesake colour of the the moment - luxe ruby RED

  5. bel nova de carter Says:

Tilda’s outfit was horrible to say the least…. dulls her already pale skin….very unflattering to her body….she would have been better of dressing as annie hall to the oscars.

  6. Wizzee00 Says:

i’ve been in.love with lanvin for a while now. didn’t know an african’s behind it. oo.laaa.laaaa.
